COPA DETROIT 2010

The inaugural championship of the Detroit City Futbol League will conclude with the Copa Detroit where each of the DCFL’s 11 teams will compete for the ultimate glory.

The Copa will be a friendly picnic environment with taco trucks, beer tent, live music and plenty of surprises to entertain everyone, including a special halftime performance by the Detroit Party Marching Band.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO OUR FRIENDS AT THINK DETROIT/PAL.

There will be a $5 participation fee for all players (all of which will got to Think Detroit PAL) collected on the match day.

Saturday July 31st at Belle Isle’s World Cup field. First games start at noon. The championship game starts at 6pm.

Rules unique to COPA DETROIT.
-There will be proper refs who will issue yellow cards and red cards. Anyone issued a red card will be ineligible to play the rest of the day.
-If a game is tied at the end of regulation there will be a shoot-out.
-Shoot-outs will be as follows:

  1. penalty kicks will alternate between male and female players.
  2. After each team has taken 4 penalty kicks (2 men and 2 women), if one team does not have an advantage penalty kicks will proceed one player at a time until a winner is determined (must still alternate by gender).
  3. No one can kick a second time until every other of teammate of the same gender has taken a penalty kick.
  4. The goalie for the shoot-out will the goalie at the end of regulation.
  5. Players are not eligible for the Copa unless they played for their respective team during the regular season.
